Amala Paul had
an unprecedented day last Friday when she had as many as three
of her films hitting the screens. However busy an actress might
be in any language, having three of her films releasing on the
same day is something which occurs only rarely.
Amala’s Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal (MUK) (opposite Atharva),
Kaadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi (KSE) (opposite Siddharth) and
KSE’s Telugu version Love Failure were the films which were
released on 17th February. While it (three films releasing on
the same day) does give an account of the demand the actress has
from producers and directors, it also carries with it the huge
risk of ‘rejection’ from audience for being ‘overdose’.
Directed by Elred Kumar and touted as Tamil
films’ first-ever medical thriller, trade sources say that MUK
hasn’t been well received by the public who complain that the
script was ‘confusing’ to say the least. If the feeling
prevailed in urban centres, one can very well imagine how would
it be in rural areas.
KSE, for which Siddharth doubled up as producer besides playing
the lead role, is said to be doing reasonably well in its Tamil
version. Whether the film would be able to sustain and take
forward the momentum in the coming weeks is something which
remains to be seen. Ditto with Love Failure, the Telugu version
of KSE, which has attracted youth in the initial days.
Whether or not Amala manages the hat-trick of hits that she is
desperately looking for is a big question! |
