Close
on the heels of the remake of superstar Rajinikanth’s
super-duper hit film Murattukkalai, efforts are being made to
remake Kamal Haasan’s Sakalakalavallavan, which was also one of
the colossal hits of the actor. The film released three decades
back in 1982 and had Ambika and the late ‘Silk’ Smitha playing
lead roles in it.
Sundar C starred in remake of Rajini’s Murattukkalai which
opened to below-par responses a couple of weeks ago. Soon
afterwards, an announcement has been made that Kamal’s
Sakalakalavallavan would be remade in Tamil starring Suriya in
the lead. Knowing the kind of actor that Suriya has turned out
to be over these years, it is hoped that he’d do full justice to
the film which has a typical masala script.
Produced in a grand manner by AVM Productions
and released in 1982, Kamal’s Sakalakalavallavan had him playing
dual roles of a typical villager and an urban youth. The script
of the film was a ‘slightly modified’ version of the MGR-Saroja
Devi starrer Periya Idathu Penn which released in the late
sixties. Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s songs were a major reason for
Kamal’s film turning out to be a huge hit at the box-office.
AVM Productions has now announced that it would be producing the
remake version of the film as well. A formal announcement has
been made by the production house about the production of the
re-make version. The heroine opposite Suriya and the other cast
would be decided later. |
