Whatever
superstar Rajinikanth says, does, thinks of and plans to do
become a news item for the journals. In such a scenario, it’s no
wonder that his latest act of indulging in a ‘bharatnatyam’
dance performanace for a song sequence in his upcoming 3-D
animation film Kochadaiyaan along with co-star Deepika Padukone
has become a ‘hot talk’ among his fans and the general public.
Deepika and Rajini reported trained and rehearsed hard prior to
the filming of the above song sequences, Unit sources point out.
The film, a period-type flick which is filmed using ‘motion
capturing technilogy’, has a song featuring bharatnatyam dance
steps. The song is said to be equivalent in its content to the
rudrathandavam by Lord Shiva. The song sequence was recentl shot
in the scenic locales of Kerala.
Deepika hasn’t done any classical dance ever
since her debut Hindi film Om Shanti Om more than 4 years ago.
The song sequence was choreographed by popular Bollywood
choreographer Saroj Khan, who has done many memorable dance
numbers for the likes of Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi. Both Rajini
and Deepika rehearsed hard for some days before the sequence was
filmed to the satisfaction of the entire Unit.
Talking about her experience, Saroj Khan says “I’m working in a
Tamil film after a long gap. I’m quite happy to be
choreographing the dance movements of superstar Rajinikanth in
the film. Both Rajini and Deepika have worked hard for the song;
in particular, Rajini trained and rehearsed hard as if it was
his first film!”
The film, which has music by A.R. Rahman, is likely to release
on Deepavali this year. |
