Plot - Kind-hearted Rajaraman aka Vasool Raja (Kamal), a small time don, does 'vasool  business' with his right hand man Vaddi (Prabhu), making a living by collecting money from people who refuse or dilly-dally in paying their debts to others. They are very happy living in the bylanes of Chennai, though his only problem is the annual visit of his parents from the village.

His parents Venkataraman (Nagesh) and Kasturi (Rohini) think Rajaraman is a Doctor who runs his own hospital. For their arrival Raja's house is converted into the makeshift 'Venkataraman Charitable Hospital'. During a walking excursion, Nagesh meets his friend Vishwanathan (Prakash Raj) and is keen to get his son married to Vishwanathan's daughter Paapu (Sneha).
