18 Vayasu is all about a mentally unstable youngster, who falls in love. Be it happiness or anger, he has a unique way of expressing it. Whenever he is depressed, he takes on the behaviour of an animal that he sights first. I believe this is a concept that hasn't been explored in Tamil cinema yet," says Panneerselvam.

He adds, "We shot eight sequences of the hero exhibiting animal behaviour. While he pants and barks like a dog in one, he fights like a bull in another!" The film, which stars producer SS Chakravarthy's son Johnny and newcomer Gayathri in the lead, was shot in Chennai, Theni, Madurai and Thiruchengodu.

The album of the film, for which music has been composed by two Sri Lankan Tamils, Dinesh and Charles Bosco. The highlight of the album will be a song that has been sung by a Thirunangai.
