Prakash Raj has always been director Hari’s most-preferred actor either to play villain or character roles. He has signed up the actor once again for the Dhanush-starrer Vengai. It is said that Hari’s first choice was Kalabhavan Mani but the actor moved out of Vengai following some differences of opinion with Hari. When the director was frantically looking for a suitable actor to play the villain role in Vengai, he decided to go back to his favorite star Prakash Raj and the actor also agreed to chip in for Hari who gave him powerful roles in Ayya and Singam.

Vengai is an action masala flick. Story revolves around a village family shot in Karaikudi.  It is said that apart from director Hari's usual village themes, there is some interesting deviation in this movie which is to be watched for in Vengai Movie.
