‘Vennila kabadi kuzhu’ marks the debut of its hero Viishnu, producer K. Anand
Chakravarthy, director Susindhran, music director V. Selvaganesh and
cinematographer J. Laxman Kumar in the film industry. With a common fascination
for cinema, this team of youngsters came together for a story revolving around a
kabadi team. With most of the shoot having been completed, the producer is
planning to release the film in December.
Music director V. Selvaganesh, son of ghatam maestro Vikku Vinayakram, says he
was too glad to work in the project, as the script offered great scope for
music, both in the songs as well as the re-recording. “The producer was
extremely supportive. The camaraderie and warmth in the team was amazing,” he
says. Mr. Selvaganesh, a noted kanjeera artist, has made a mark in both,
Carnatic and fusion music genres. The film has an interesting mix of rhythmic as
well as melodic numbers, he says.
“When a percussionist composes a melody, the perspective is very different.”
For one folk number, the music director had established folk and thavil artists
come and play for him. Playback singers Shankar Mahadevan, Karthik and Chinmayi
are among those who have sung in this film. “The picturisation is really
classy,” he notes. Saranya Mohan of ‘Yaradi nee mohini’ fame plays the female
lead. Hero Viishnu is the son of Inspector General of Police (North Zone) Ramesh
Kudawla. |
